Core Beliefs (things we die for)
A loving God created us in His image in order for us to have relationship with Him and with people.
So
God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he
created them; male and female he created them. Then God blessed them
and said, “Be fruitful and multiply.” Genesis 1: 27, 28 NLT
Unfortunately,
all of us at some point have believed the lie, rejected our true image,
and wandered away from the truth of God’s love.
They
traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshipped and served the
things God created instead of the creator himself, who is worthy of
eternal praise…for everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s
glorious standard. Romans 1:25, 3:23 NLT
Because
of broken relationship, Jesus lived, died, and rose from the dead to
re-establish relationship with us and to give us life to the fullest,
now and forever.
God
showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the
world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real
love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a
sacrifice to take away our sins. 1 John 4: 9, 10 NLT
This
means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The
old life is gone; a new life has begun. And all of this is a gift from
God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17,
18 NLT
Relationship with God through
Jesus brings us back into God’s family where we are joined together in
a community of faith, love, and accountability with our adopted
brothers and sisters.
Dear
friends, since God loved us that much we surely ought to love each
other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives
in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. 1 John 3: 11,
12 NLT
The Holy Spirit empowers our
relationship with God and others and helps us to maximize our gifts,
abilities, experiences, and personality in order to live a life of
purpose.
God
has given each of you a gift from his great variety of gifts. Use them
well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak
as though God himself was speaking through you. Do you have the gift of
helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God
supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus
Christ. 1 Peter 4: 10, 11 NLT
God has given us His inspired Word as a guide for living the truth and for making a difference in the lives of others.
All
Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and
to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It correct when we are
wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and
equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3: 16, 17 NLT
We are called by God to bless others and help them find their way back to Him.
For
God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting
people’s sins against them. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is
making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come
back to God!” 2 Corinthians 5: 19, 20 NLT
