Jesus came, not just bringing eternal life, but to bring abundant life for us today!
We can get caught up today in eternal life: saved and just barely hanging on. Christ died for so much more than that! He came so that our today would be great! Full! Overflowing! Abundant! Supreme! Exceeding! Uncommon! Over and above! Extraordinary! More remarkable! More excellent! Beyond measure! Surpassing!
I have to ask myself if I’m living up to the life He has given me, or am I just happy to get to heaven on the path of least resistance?
We hear people talking about suffering for Jesus, and yes, the Bible tells us there will be trials and suffering, but is that what Jesus said He came to bring us?
Is that what He said our lives should look like? Is that His plan or purpose - that we should just suffer through life in hope of eternity?
I don’t think that’s what he meant at all! Jesus said:
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10 NIV
