Ok, so if you know me you know that I'm not much of a writer, and I'm even less of a speller so I want to apologize before hand. If you are reading this and you are not related to me then thank you.

Well it has already started out to be a busy week this week, especially since I decided to redo the web site. The old one was a mess and it was very hard to change things. Now two days later I'm still not sure we are better off but at the same time maybe we are!
Today I read a great article on the origin and history of church pews, it brought up some interesting thoughts about how maybe the pew has had a major impact on our worship. The article says that because we now face the front and only look at the backs of people heads (instead of mingling with people the way they did for the first 1600 years of Christianity) that this may be part of the reason we have a entertainer/entertainee idea of worship. What do you think? If so what do we do about it?

Have a great day, I love ya, and so does Jesus!

Maybe angling the pews and removing some is the first step to try for a change. I am definately for the "more space between them" idea.

Ruffled Feathers had a *great* idea (hint hint to Pastor Jeff! It seems quite familiar!) to rope off some pews to make us all sit together. I know that every intense worship experience I have had has been in a large group - or at least a group where I was close-in with other people. I know the thought is that some would just move the ropes and sit outside anyway - so let 'em. The majority will sit together and enjoy an intense experience with the Holy Spirit!

seating
If I had my wish, I'd get ride of the pews and put in chairs that you could move, but we have pews so I'm with mel, angle with more space between and lose a few of them.

I honestly don't care what I set on. I could BOP ( bring my own pillow). I do think looking at the back of someones head is sometimes a distraction! We Are very seperated in worship service.Rope us off in a small section .Make us set close to each other. Oh no this person wiggles too much, she wears too much perfume, I don't like to sit close to anyone the Holy Spirit may touch me. I think we are seperated in our love for one another. Can we just praise the Lord? Let's just praise the Lord. Why do we sing the same closing song each Sinday? No one is really paying attention. Would that be a good time to hug your sister & your brother w/ no music at all

worship setting
That's one reason I would like to see the pews angled - so it gives the feeling that we are worshipping together.
